“What gets measured gets improved.” – Peter Drucker
Globalization mandates everyone to be prompt with new devices and techniques. Growth in consumer-based technology leverages investments to wireless infrastructure and flexible work-stations, thus paving the way for collaborative tools that bring together employees spread across the globe on one portal, facilitating discussions and becoming the new meeting room.
The employees’ choice of device is the most vital factor in meeting deadlines, production costs and supply. Thus, the choice of device is the fundamental driver behind the design of spaces, delineating nature of their use. Beyond a mindset, it addresses the issues of price inflammation and space crunch in real estate. Moving away from assigned seating to an open one helps organizational teams function better, provided there is a variety of seating to work around and move around. Requirements are identified using Data Analytics, marking a shift from speculation to precise calculations, making spaces ‘data modular’, and feasible by reducing individual spatial consumption, thereby making them affordable and inclusive for smaller organizations.
An increased transfer of information and networking within office space makes it socially receptive, thereby acquiring and accommodating different organizational forms within a single space. This breaks down hierarchy and supports business outcomes by promoting collaboration, team meetings and formal gathering. This dynamic nature of workspaces allows differentiation within groups, activities and formations, which benefits team building efforts.
The provision of collaboration spaces, meeting rooms, phone booths, team rooms etc. allow people to work from all possible corners of a setup, thus fulfilling the need as per the ever-evolving corporate structure to substantiate the requirements of each individual, whilst managing to achieve the decorum of a workplace.
The role of employees in the future is no longer imagined in a static location, but as more dynamic and temporal situations that are a consequence of the style of a day’s work. Work itself is not longer represented by a place, but by its fundamental concepts. The new trends and philosophy of work, no longer force individuals or confine them, but instead, turn them into the drivers of a self-actuating transformation, that enhances their potential, sense of responsibility and creativity.
